Headed by Executive Chef JP Challet and Chef Robert Toppan, our culinary team creates a modern cuisine to reflect today’s tastes and respect vegetarian and gluten-free diets.

French-born Chef Jean-Pierre Challet is internationally recognized for his mastery of French cuisine and led many best restaurants in Toronto. His love of food and progressive cooking style continues to meet changing demands and trends, making Chef JP one of Canada’s most accomplished and relevant chefs. He has represented Canada on multiple occasions at The James Beard House. Publications including Gourmet, Toronto Life, Globe & Mail, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal describe his cuisine as “lavish”, “heavenly” and “creative”.

Chef Robert Toppan’s cuisine is deeply influenced by his Italian roots and culinary background. After graduating from George Brown College, Rob moved to Italy to train at ALMA – International School of Italian Cuisine. During this time, he honed his skills at Antica Corte Pallavicina, a Michelin-starred restaurant near his grandparents’ hometown of Vacile. Upon returning to Toronto, he joined his mentor JP Challet at Ici Bistro, then followed him to The Fifth. Chef Rob’s love of Italian cooking makes him an exciting addition to The Fifth’s culinary team.
